Ship Exhaust Technology received an order for scrubbers for 2 vessels
It is understood that one of the ships is the DFDS company "Finlandia", ME will design, engineer, manufacture and modify a scrubber system for the ship. The “Finlandia†is undergoing an ecological upgrade with a total investment of 6 million Euros, including hull and port facilities, which are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The other ship is a new cargo ship under construction. The owner is the Spanish shipping company Balenciaga and will also be equipped with a ME scrubber system.
Ship Exhaust Technology said that scrubbers will be the most common replacement for low-sulfur fuels worldwide. Although fuel prices have fallen as oil prices have fallen, the price gap between marine and heavy fuel oils is still $200/tonne, which remains an important economic driver for investing in scrubber systems.
