In order to ensure that the first heavy-duty truck product to be launched is sufficiently competitive, Jiangling Heavy Duty has spared no expense to introduce Ford's 9L and 13L Ecotorq engines from Europe. This engine is a new generation of heavy-duty engines developed by Ford Otosan European Commercial Vehicle R&D Center. It is built according to world-class standards and has excellent performance in terms of fuel consumption, reliability, NVH and emissions.
Jiangling Heavy Duty's 13L engine and the European simultaneous development and production, which means that Jiangling will represent Europe's technology heavy-duty engine to China in a "zero time difference" way, which is rare in the industry.
The first batch of engines are 9L 360Ps, 13L 390Ps and 13L 420Ps, which meet the needs of customers in different types of tractors, dump trucks, trucks and special vehicles. The next step will be to produce more horsepower 13L 480Ps. And 500Ps engine.
Thanks to the use of a large number of advanced technologies, the engine is very advantageous in fuel economy. According to the data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the fuel consumption of similar products in China is reduced by about 10%. Reliability and durability have always been the traditional advantages of European engines. Ten thousand kilometers without overhaul, for a European technology engine, it is just a passing level. And based on the superb design of this engine, there is every reason to expect better performance.
The engine's NVH level is quite good, the vehicle's noise during acceleration is 69 decibels, about 9 decibels lower than the domestic similar products, given that 75 decibels is the upper limit of human comfort. This is a very rare engine in China that can effectively control noise without causing discomfort. This will effectively reduce the user's driving fatigue and protect their physical and mental health.
In terms of environmental protection, the models currently put into production not only fully meet the national V emissions, in fact, their nitrogen oxide emissions are 35% lower than the national V standard, and can be upgraded to national VI emissions at any time according to regulatory requirements.
This engine adopts the cylinder head of vermicular graphite cast iron and the technology of sintering casting. It is currently applying for patent protection in China. The vermicular graphite cast iron is the internationally advanced casting technology. Compared with the traditional gray cast iron, the vermicular graphite cast iron is tensile. The strength is 1.8 times and the fatigue strength is 1.9 times. The vermicular graphite cast iron can make the engine thin wall thickness only 3 mm and the weight is reduced by 10% to 20%. For the localization of this excellent engine, Jiangling Motors has built a new engine base in Taiyuan.
The planned base of the engine base is 280 mu, and the long-term plan is to produce 80,000 heavy-duty engines per year. The project will be built in phases. At present, the first phase of the project has been completed and accepted, which can meet the production capacity of 12,000 engines. The engine base fully implements the Ford production system, and the Ford expert is the general manager. The engine is developed and produced in full compliance with the Ford standard. In April 2017, the Ford system certification was officially passed.
In order to ensure the quality of the engine, the core equipment of the engine machining, honing machine, three-coordinate and other production lines are imported from Germany and the United Kingdom, consistent with the Ford European factory, and the quality of the production line is also meticulous, using fully automatic The robot is glued to ensure the sealing of key parts; there are multiple measuring stations to ensure the sealing of key parts and numerous electric guns to ensure the torque value of key parts.
At the same time, the engine development and performance laboratory has also been completed and officially put into use. Up to now, the engine has completed a total of 18 million kilometers of bench test. "If you want to do something good, you must first sharpen your tools." Producing a high-quality engine, for many heavy truck companies in China, this is a dream.
