Caterpillar and Anqing Zhongguan Diesel Engine Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Group, have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture company. China Shipbuilding Group issued a message on its official website that the agreement was signed in Beijing on November 23. After the establishment of the joint venture company, it will manufacture Caterpillar's Mark Diesel. Tan Zuojun, General Manager of CSSC Group, and Lei Changde, Vice President of the Caterpillar Group attended the signing ceremony. According to Lei Changde, the joint venture with Anchai is Caterpillar's only global joint venture in the mid-speed diesel sector. Lehmande said that Caterpillar's technological superiority in the field of marine power and customer support capabilities, combined with the understanding of the local market and strong manufacturing capabilities of Sinosteel Group Corporation and Anchai, will make the joint venture more attractive in China and Asia. Competitiveness, better serve the expanding customer base in the Asia-Pacific market. Zhang Haisen said that after the joint venture has formed a certain scale, it will conduct joint research and development with Caterpillar to improve the research and technology level of the joint venture company. Anqing Zhongguan Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. was founded in 1960 and is affiliated to China National Shipbuilding Industry Corporation. It is a professional fixed-point manufacturer of marine diesel engines and a state-level secondary enterprise. According to China Shipbuilding Corporation, Anchai’s shareholding in China’s Sino-Ocean Ship’s medium-speed engine in the past four or five years has remained at 15%-20%. In 2009, Caterpillar negotiated the establishment of a joint venture company in Anchai. After nearly two years of negotiations, it reached an agreement and signed a joint venture contract.
