Caterpillar's new push propulsion engine
On November 17, Caterpillar announced the launch of the new Cat® C175-16 marine propulsion engine. Its size, power and speed will drive the ship's various ship types to meet IMO Tier II emissions requirements.
It is reported that the C175-16 machine power is 2001-2168bkW@1600rpm and 2239-2550bkW@1800rpm, which expands Caterpillar's original industry-leading 3516C-HD marine high-speed machine power range. The C175 has been used in non-landary applications to meet EPA Tier 4 requirements. The C175-16 is ideally suited for offshore support vessels, tugboats, engineering vessels, etc. It is technologically advanced and ensures maximum power output and minimal environmental impact after upgrade.
Bob Hallengren, president of Caterpillar Marine Power Systems, said that the C175-16 uses ACERTTM technology, and the Cat ACERT engine optimizes turbocharging and post-cooling to provide reliable maximum power output with efficient combustion to maximize fuel consumption. The C175-16 function produces maximum energy per fuel injection. This model's Cat common rail fuel system ensures low pollution emissions and all factory packaged parts are backed by a Caterpillar warranty.
