Valmet of Finland receives orders for exhaust gas washing systems for 2 new cruise ships
Recently, Valmet of Finland received a contract to deliver the exhaust gas washing system for two new cruise ships “Mein Schiff 7†and “Mein Schiff 8â€.
The new vessel will be built by Meyer Turku for the German TUI Cruises, a joint venture between German travel company TUI and Royal Caribbean Cruises.
It is reported that Valmet is expected to deliver the scrubber system for the first cruise ship in the fourth quarter of this year, and the second ship's system is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2017.
According to Valmet, the scrubber system it delivers will be controlled by automation technology for integration into the main room system and all auxiliary systems.
For TUI Cruises, this is the company's fifth and sixth new cruise ship with the Valmet system. Of the four previously operating vessels, the Schiff 3 and 4 are also equipped with Valmet scrubbers. Mein Schiff 5, 6, 7 and 8 are being built at Meyer Turku and are expected to be delivered by 2019. Mein Schiff 3, 4, 5, and 6 have a total tonnage of 99,300 tons and a passenger capacity of 2,800, while the Mein Schiff 7 and 8 have a total tonnage of 11,1,500 tons and carry 3,100 passengers.
