Taiwan's first mainland heavy-duty heavy truck is expected to be listed at the end of the year


On May 8, Yulon Group, Taiwan’s largest automaker, said that it will introduce heavy trucks from mainland China to Taiwan for assembly and promote sales to the market by the end of the year. With the increase in the prospects of the auto market in Taiwan, this will be the first time that Taiwan has introduced a heavy truck on the mainland.

“Taiwan did not produce large-tonnage vehicles in the past... it will be assembled in Taiwan.” Chen Guorong, general manager of Yulon Motors, the group’s subsidiary, made the above statement to the media on the sidelines of an auto forum. Chen Guorong did not want to disclose relevant details, but he disclosed the news at the Hubei and Taiwan Auto Forums in the mainland. It is expected that this will be another cooperation between Yulon and Hubei Dongfeng Group.

According to statistics, the total vehicle sales last year was about 378,000 vehicles, which was about 15% higher than the previous year. The scale of the Taiwan auto market is not large. However, after three consecutive years of rapid growth, the industry is expected to encounter a wall period this year, and the outlook for the economy is not optimistic about the increase in the number of variables, which is estimated to range from 333-380,000 vehicles throughout the year. China is the world’s largest auto sales market. Last year it sold 18.5 million vehicles, accounting for approximately 26% of the world’s total.

The most noteworthy of late has been Dongfeng Yulon's joint venture with Dongfeng at the end of 2010 to produce its own Na Zhi Jie sedan. Without increasing sales in mainland China, Yulon Group sold 113,000 vehicles in Taiwan last year and set a target of 123,000 vehicles this year. Yulon has Nissan Philippine cars overseas. Apart from the automotive industry, the group also has textile, technology, venture capital and construction projects. The earliest layout of Yulon Group in the Mainland began in 1995. It established a joint venture between China Automotive Corporation, the other listed company, Fujian Automotive Industry Corporation of the Mainland, and Mitsubishi Motors of Japan to establish Southeast Automotive.
