Machinery manufacturer Terex raises bid to acquire Demag

Terex Corp (TEX), the US machinery product manufacturer, announced on Thursday that it has raised its bid for German crane maker Demag Cranes AG by more than 9%, from the previous 1.26 billion US dollars to 1.38 billion US dollars, and said that Demag is expected to The board of directors will advise its shareholders to accept the new offer.

Terex’s German subsidiary, Terex Industrial Holding, raised its bid for Demag from its previous price of 41.75 euros (59.82 US dollars) per share to 45.50 euros (65.20 US dollars). The new offer was 41.4% higher than Demag's closing price on the 20th of last month.

On the 20th of last month, Terex Industrial submitted to Demag an offer of €41.75 per share for a total consideration of $1.26 billion.

Demag is headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany, and manufactures industrial cranes and crane components, port cranes and oil depot automation systems.

Terex said Demag's board will advise its shareholders to accept the offer. In order for this sale to be completed, at least 51% of Demag's shares must be pre-ordered by Terex. Terex’s existing offer for Demag shares will expire on June 30.
