To this end, Beijing has introduced policies to encourage sales of electric vehicles. According to the forthcoming "12th Five-Year Plan" of the Beijing auto industry, the purchase and running of electric vehicles in Beijing will not be included in the scope of purchase. In other words, the purchase of an electric car does not require the participation of a Yaohao, and it can be directly on the market. However, the relevant person in charge of the Beijing Municipal Economic and Information Commission stated that pure electric vehicles are simply not required to participate in the Yaohao number plate, but they must also follow the number of the end of the license plate and abide by the weekly line-limit rule. The official said at the same time that the policy of unlimited purchase of pure electric vehicles is only applicable “within a certain period of time”.

Unlimited purchase is only one of the city’s incentive policies for pure electric vehicles. According to reports, this Municipality has also formulated a subsidy scheme for pure electric vehicles in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Finance. Each vehicle will receive a subsidy of up to 120,000 yuan.

The unlimited purchase policy for pure electric vehicles has been welcomed by car manufacturers. Zheng Gang, head of the public relations department of Beijing Automotive Group, stated that pure electric vehicles are not only low-carbon and environmentally friendly but also have low cost of use. If the market reaches a certain scale, its production costs can also rapidly decline. It is reported that BAIC has called on its 50,000 employees to take the lead in buying and using pure electric vehicles. Many Beiqi executives, including Chairman Xu Heyi, will take the lead in buying cars. For this purpose, the Beiqi Research Institute in Shunyi will plan to construct 100 charging piles. Beiqi will charge its own staff for the purchase and use of pure electric vehicles.

The reporter was also informed that Beijing's pure electric vehicle demonstration operation will also be promoted in an all-round way. At present, Foton Motor, BAIC New Energy and Changan Automobile all have models for short-term trials, and the sanitation, public security, and rental industries are the first major pilot industries.
